Followers of this blog know that Asheville is rich in art and music.  The Appalachian mountains are one of the oldest mountain ranges in the eastern U.S., formed roughly 480 million years ago and the soul of mountain music was born there.
Though commonly known for the established and juried art community flourishing in this area, we enjoy a rich music history as well encompassing nearly every kind of genre.  Western North Carolina is music central and whether standing on the corner listening to a talented busker or occupying a large concert hall, music is our heritage here in the mountains.
