Asheville Bed and Breakfast Expecting Vampires, Zombies and Make Up Madness of all Kinds

Halloween 2011 will be our 12th candy handout here At Cumberland Falls Bed and Breakfast Inn.  As our guests already know, our Asheville Bed and Breakfast Expecting Vampires, Zombies and make up of all kinds will not be too much of a deviation from years gone by.

Typically as the sun first sets and sometimes slightly before that…. the little tykes make their way to the inn usually under power of their Mom’s or Dad’s dressed as …Oh let’s remember…..Ladybugs, Wood Fairies, Inch Worms and more.  My favorite recollection in this age grouping was the dinosaur.  Standing in at about 4 years old, his little dinosaur self straggled up our few front steps, reaching our door with his tail draped out behind him.  He was so precious, said precisely the words I was sure had been drilled into him during his walk from his home to our front door…”Trick or Treat.”  Adorable was he and we told him so….Per his tutoring I am sure….he began his oh so courteous exit with ” thank you Ma’am” and began to turn around to meet his Mom still on our front pavers waiting for him.  It was at precisely this moment when things began to be a bit mucked up.
Making a left turn as he was attempting to leave our porch his dinosaur tail, an oh what a tail it was,  failed to cooperate with him in the least!  He was turning his little body but the tail was completely failing to accompany him and what small modicum of progress it did make negotiated its way under the rockers on my porch getting hopelessly entanged in the the chair and causing the little fellow such frustration that as it continued he yelled out to his Mom. “Ma, you’re gonna have to come up here and help me.  My tail is stuck.”  This was an accurate assessment of the happening but with his Mom, my husband, my sister and myself sliding him forward down the steps while the crew of us were actively managing the tail….Well, it all ended up ok in the proverbial END.

Historically, much later in the evening the older teens come out.  I am expecting big things this Halloween as there are now professionals in our Grove Arcade offering make up suitable for a theatrical production this year.  It is called Make Up at the Grove Park and whether the night requires Dracula Fangs, Make up of the Zombies, Frankenstein, or you just want to get girled up  …Oh, excuse me, I meant to say “Ghouled Up”– they’ve got you covered or uncovered…Your Choice!
