Asheville has distinguished itself repeatedly in various ways.  It has gained notoriety for being a culinary mecca, art world find, music weaves the streets in notes melodic, scenes of wonder and awesome beauty from numerous vantage points throughout the city and now, Asheville Brews.  Claiming the title of Beer City USA for the third year running beating out the expected winner; Portland with ease our small Asheville craft beer scene is thriving.  Just in Asheville with the 10 microbreweries crafting beer patrons have more than 50 local flavors to sample.

All this, before Sierra Nevada, , ever announced it’s opening in Asheville for the year 2014 having chosen it’s new French Broad River site in Mills River  only 15 miles south of Beer City.

No time at all elapsed when competitor New Belgium, our country’s 3rd largest producer of craft beer also tapped Asheville’s vibrant River Arts district, a mere 1/2 mile from downtown, as it’s new home for a 2015 opening.
