Asheville is never lacking for something to do.  In May, on the third Friday, the music of Friday After Five is a summer nights signature, June is Beer city and all that jazz,  July is Shindig on the Green‘s turf and not to be outdone by the earlier summer months Asheville Bed and Breakfast anticipates the Goombay Festival August 26-27 & 28.

Asheville’s Festivals are notoriously free as is Goombay Festival.  This extravaganza- with music out of Africa and West Indies is by benefit of the YMI cultural center and can be found on Eagle-and Market Streets where the sights, sounds and delicious tastes of Caribbean and Africa abound and  are served up to the beat of steel drums.  Take in the view of the colorful costumes, feathered headdresses and masks that can be a bit scary as you enter the Goombay!

So whether it is: Gombey = Rhythm
                         goombay = Bahamas
                         Bumbay = Jamaica

It all adds up to the dance….Fine dance, great food, spectacular sights and awesome fun!
